The 20th anniversary of UAFA was held at Monolit Plaza on the 28th of February 2018 at 7:00 p.m
The partners of UAFA, Presidential Apparatus, Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Milli Majlis, Cabinet of Ministers, Regional Development Public Union, Yasamal Executive Power, ASAN, Special Olympics Committee, ISIM, State Committee for Family, Women and Children’s Issue and other representatives of government agencies, as well as the United States, UK, Romanian, Israeli, Palestinian ambassadors to Azerbaijan, European Union, UNICEF, UN, British Council, AHK, IWC, BP, SCP, Bakcell, Rotary, World Bank, Pasha Bank, PWC, EY, Maersk and representatives of other companies and organizations, including media, journalists and bloggers took part.
In her opening remarks, the Director of UAFA, Gwen Burchell, explained the reason for the foundation of the organization and “WHY it still continues” after 20 years. ANSWER is, of course, CHILDREN!
Then UAFA PR Manager Saleh Nasirov presented to the guests a new website featuring the 20-year activity of the organization www.uafa.az
Following it, he invited several young people with disabilities who benefited from UAFA’s FREE SERVICES and they shared their Success Stories on the stage.
Nurlan Akhmedov has benefited from FREE services of UAFA Yasamal CBR center since he was 2 years old.
Shabnam Ahmadova has benefited from FREE services of UAFA Yasamal CBR center since she was 4 years old.
Rasul Mammadli has benefited from FREE services of UAFA Yasamal CBR center since 2003.
Ali and Nurlan Babacanov have benefited from FREE services of UAFA Ganja CBR center since 2003.
Sama Mammadova has benefited from FREE services of UAFA Yasamal CBR center since she was 12 years old.
Rasul Zakiyev has benefited from FREE services of UAFA Yasamal CBR center since he was 12 years old.
The guests were delighted by the performance of “Miracle” dance group of children with various disabilities, who benefit from the free services of the UAFA CBR Center.
An exhibition of paintings and handicrafts of children and young people with disabilities was on display throughout the event and available to buy.
At the end of the event, a cake for 250 people, specially prepared for the 20th anniversary of UAFA, was cut.

На протяжении 20 лет Международная организация UAFA оказывает социальную помощь детям с ограниченными физическими возможностями. В Азербайджане под их опекой свыше 10 тысяч детей. Дорогостоящие операции, образование, психологическая реабилитация - все это позволяет детям-инвалидам интегрироваться в общество. 12-летний Расул Закиев на всю жизнь прикован к инвалидной коляске.
